Long before he became the dread lord of Umbra, Valthor was a noble and virtuous knight in the Kingdom of Avalor. Born into a family of distinguished warriors, he was known for his unwavering sense of justice and his dedication to protecting the innocent. Valthor’s valor in battle and his wisdom in council earned him the admiration of his peers and the love of the people.
However, the tranquility of Avalor was shattered by a series of relentless attacks from dark forces. Determined to save his homeland, Valthor sought out ancient and forbidden knowledge to gain an edge over his enemies. His quest led him to the darkest corners of Eldoria, where he discovered the fabled “Tome of Shadows,” a grimoire said to grant immense power at a terrible cost.
Against the advice of his closest friends and mentors, including Sir Gareth the Valiant and Lady Elara the Mystic, Valthor began to study the dark arts contained within the tome. His initial intentions were noble—he aimed to use the dark magic to protect Avalor and vanquish the forces threatening it. But as he delved deeper, the dark magic began to corrupt his mind and soul. The power he sought to wield began to wield him instead.
Transformed by the dark energies, Valthor’s appearance changed to reflect the malevolence within. His once noble visage became wraith-like, and his heart, once filled with compassion, turned cold and unyielding. The noble knight was gone, replaced by a vengeful wraith, now known as Lord Valthor. His descent into darkness culminated in a catastrophic event where he unleashed a destructive force that endangered Avalor itself.
Fearing for the safety of the kingdom, Sir Gareth and Lady Elara confronted Valthor. A fierce battle ensued, with the once close friends now locked in mortal combat. Despite their reluctance to harm him, Gareth and Elara were forced to banish Valthor to the desolate region of Umbra, sealing his fate and ensuring the safety of Avalor. This act of banishment was not only a necessity for Avalor’s survival but also a heartbreaking decision that weighed heavily on their hearts.
In Umbra, Valthor embraced his new identity and set about building his own dark empire. Despite his transformation, a part of Valthor’s original self still lingers.
